Window Tinting Edmonton
Window tinting does more than just look good. It blocks UV rays, reduces interior heat, protects your upholstery from fading, and gives you privacy on the road. Choice Wraps provides professional automotive window tinting in South Edmonton using premium ceramic and carbon films that outperform cheap dyed tints in every way.
We tint cars, trucks, SUVs, and commercial vehicles. Whether you want a subtle factory look or a dark, private finish, our technicians apply film with precision and clean edges that will not bubble, peel, or turn purple over time.
Window Tint Options
Not all tints are created equal. We offer three tiers to match your needs and budget:
Ceramic Window Tint
Our top-tier option. Ceramic tint uses nano-ceramic particle technology to reject up to 99% of UV rays and up to 60% of solar heat without interfering with GPS, cell signals, or radio reception. It provides the best clarity, the highest heat rejection, and the longest lifespan of any tint film. This is the film we recommend for daily drivers in Edmonton.
Carbon Window Tint
A step up from basic dyed film. Carbon tint offers good heat rejection and a matte, non-reflective finish. It will not fade to purple over time like cheap dyed films. A solid mid-range choice for budget-conscious customers who still want quality.
Dyed Window Tint
The most affordable option. Dyed film provides privacy and a darker appearance but offers less heat rejection than ceramic or carbon. It is suitable for customers who primarily want the look of tinted windows.
Window Tint Shades and Alberta Law
Alberta’s window tint regulations allow any darkness on rear side windows and the rear windshield. Front side windows must allow at least 50% visible light transmission (VLT). The windshield cannot be tinted below the AS-1 line (approximately the top 15 cm).
We offer tint films ranging from 5% VLT (very dark, limo tint) to 70% VLT (nearly invisible). Our most popular choices:
- 5% (limo): Maximum privacy. Commonly chosen for rear windows on SUVs and trucks.
- 15%: Very dark. Popular for a sleek, uniform look across all rear windows.
- 20%: Dark but still allows some visibility from outside. A common choice for sedans.
- 35%: Medium. Provides privacy while maintaining good visibility from inside, especially at night.
- 50%: Light. The maximum darkness allowed on front side windows in Alberta. Reduces glare and UV without dramatically changing the appearance.

Our Tinting Process
- Window cleaning: We thoroughly clean the interior and exterior glass surfaces to remove any dust, oils, or residue.
- Film cutting: Each piece of tint film is precisely cut to match your vehicle’s window shapes using digital templates.
- Application: Film is applied to the interior side of each window using a slip solution, then squeegeed to remove water and air bubbles.
- Heat shrinking: For curved rear windshields, we heat-shrink the film to match the glass curvature perfectly, eliminating fingers and creases.
- Curing: The tint needs 2 to 5 days to fully cure and bond to the glass. Small water bubbles during this period are normal and will disappear.
Benefits of Professional Window Tinting
- UV protection: Premium tint blocks 99% of harmful UV rays, protecting your skin and preventing interior fading.
- Heat reduction: Ceramic tint rejects up to 60% of solar heat, keeping your vehicle cooler in summer and reducing air conditioning load.
- Glare reduction: Reduces eye strain from direct sunlight and headlight glare during night driving.
- Privacy and security: Darker tints prevent people from seeing valuables inside your parked vehicle.
- Shatter protection: Tint film holds glass together in the event of a break, adding a layer of safety in accidents.
- Interior preservation: Protects leather, vinyl, and fabric seats from cracking and fading caused by UV exposure.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does window tinting take?
Most vehicles take 2 to 4 hours to tint all windows. Front two windows only can be done in under an hour. We can usually complete same-day appointments.
How long does window tint last?
Ceramic and carbon tints last 10+ years with proper care. Dyed films typically last 3 to 5 years before fading. All of our tint installations include a warranty.
Can I roll my windows down after tinting?
Wait at least 48 hours (preferably 5 days) before rolling down freshly tinted windows. The film needs time to cure and bond to the glass. Rolling windows down too soon can cause the film to peel from the edges.
Will window tint interfere with my sensors or electronics?
Ceramic and carbon tint films do not interfere with GPS, cell phone signals, Bluetooth, or keyless entry systems. Metallic tints can cause interference, which is why we do not use them.

Frequently Asked Questions About Window Tinting
How much does window tinting cost in Edmonton?

What window tint is legal in Alberta?
Alberta allows any darkness on the rear side windows and rear windshield. Front side windows must allow at least 50% visible light transmission (VLT). The windshield can only be tinted above the AS-1 line, which is approximately the top 15 cm. We help you choose a shade that meets Alberta regulations while giving you the look you want.
How long does window tint last?
Ceramic tint lasts the lifetime of the vehicle with proper care. Carbon tint lasts 10 or more years. Dyed tint lasts 3 to 5 years before it may fade or discolour. Higher quality films come with longer manufacturer warranties. We do not install bargain films that turn purple or bubble within a year.
Does ceramic tint really make a difference?
Yes. Ceramic tint rejects up to 60% of solar heat and 99% of UV rays while maintaining excellent visibility. In Edmonton’s summers, ceramic tint noticeably reduces cabin temperature and air conditioning load. In winter, it blocks UV rays that cause dashboard and upholstery fading. It also does not interfere with GPS, cell phone signals, or Bluetooth, which metallic tints can.
How long does tint installation take?
Most vehicles are completed in 1 to 2 hours. We ask that you leave the vehicle with us for a half day to allow for curing time in our shop. Windows should not be rolled down for 3 to 5 days after installation to allow the adhesive to fully bond.
Can you remove old window tint?
Yes. We remove old, bubbling, or discoloured tint before applying new film. Removal is included in the cost when you are having new tint installed. If you need removal only, contact us for pricing.
